Details: Located 35 miles west of Colorado Springs, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is a 6,000 acre wonderland of meadows, forests, and wildflowers. North/south on I-25: Exit at US 24 West, 35 miles to Florissant, OR East/west on US 24: Exit at Florissant. Follow signs two miles south on Teller County 1 to the visitor center.

Birds: Herons, Geese, Ducks, Vultures, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Grouse, Quail, Plovers, Sandpipers, Gulls, Pigeons, Doves, Owls, Goatsuckers, Hummingbirds, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Flycatchers, Swallows, Jays, Crows, Magpies, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Creepers, Wrens, Kinglets, Thrushes, Mockingbirds, Shrikes, Starlings, Larks, Vireos, Warblers, Tanagers, Towhees, Sparrows, Blackbirds, Orioles, Finches, Grosbeaks.
