Details: Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge is a basin approximately 35 miles wide and 45 miles long and was established in 1967 to provide waterfowl with a place to nest and rear their young. The Ute Indians were the first to inhabit the area.

Birds: Grebes, Pelicans, Cormorants, Herons, Vultures, Ibises, Swans, Geese, Ducks, Hawks, Kites, Eagles, Falcons, Gallinaceous Birds, Rails, Coots, Cranes, Plovers, Stilts, Avocets, Sandpipers, Phalaropes, Gulls, Terns, Doves, Owls, Goatsuckers, Hummingbirds, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Flycatchers, Larks, Swallows, Jays, Magpies, Crows, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Wrens, Dippers, Kinglets, Thrushes, Bluebirds, Mockingbirds, Thrashes, Pipites, Waxwings, Shrikes, Starlings, Vireos, Warblers, Tanagers, Grosbeaks, Buntings, Towhees, Sparrows, Blackbirds, Orioles, Finches.
