Details: Ballona Wetlands provides unique habitat for over 215 species of birds, a spawning ground for fish, and a vital source of nutrients for the entire coastal marine environment. Ballona also offers resting and feeding grounds for migratory birds and other wildlife, acts as a flood plain, and cleanses pollutants from storm water run off. Ballona Wetlands is maintained by Friends of Ballono Wetlands, a non-profit, tax exempt organization established in 1978.

Birds: Alcids, Jays, Ravens, Doves, Bushtits, Owls, Wrentit, Swifts, Wrens, Hummingbirds, Mockingbirds, Kingfishers, Thrushes, Flickers, Gnatcatchers, Flycatchers, Pipits, Waxwings, Swallows, Shrikes, Waterfowl, Starlings, Shorebirds, Vultures, Raptors, Jaegers, Skuas, Quail, Gulls, Terns, Rails, Coots, Oystercatchers.
