Ballona also offers resting and feeding grounds for migratory birds and other wildlife, acts as a flood plain, and cleanses pollutants from storm water run off. Ballona Wetlands is maintained by Friends of Ballono Wetlands, a non-profit, tax exempt organization established in 1978.
