Details

The Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge is located in the Chihuahuan desert 20 miles north of Socorro. Wildlife includes desert bighorn sheep, pronghorn, mule deer, mountain lion, and bear. Bird species include bald eagle, peregrine falcon, northern shoveler, northern pintail, American coot, wood duck, canvasback, redhead, great blue heron, black-crowned night heron, sandhill crane, killdeer, long-billed dowitcher, red-tailed hawk, kestrel, and burrowing owl. From Albuquerque, take I-25 south. Take Exit #169. Look for entrance on the west side of I-25.

Grebes, Pelicans, Cormorants, Herons, Ibises, Swans, Geese, Ducks, American Vulture, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Pheasants, Turkeys, Quail, Rails, Gallinules, Coots, Cranes, Plovers, Stilts, Avocet, Sandpipers, Phalaropes, Skuas, Gulls, Terns, Pigeons, Doves, Cuckoos, Roadrunners, Barn Owls, Typical Owls, Goatsuckers, Swifts, Hummingbirds, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Tyrant Flycatchers, Larks, Swallows, Jays, Crows, Titmice, Verdins, Bushtits, Nuthatches, Wrens, Kinglets, Gnatcatchers, Thrushes, Mockingbirds, Thrashers, Pipits, Silky-Flycatchers, Shrikes, Starlings, Vireos, Wood Warblers, Tanagers, Cardinals, Grosbeaks, Sparrows, Blackbirds, Orioles, Finches, Old World Sparrows.
